ATTITUDE OF FARMERS TOWARDS 'ONE HOUSE ONE FARM' PROGRAM

Abstract

The study was conducted in Melandah Upazilla under Jamalpur district. Farmers of Durmut, Kulia and Jhawgara union constituted the population of the study. An update list of 1048 farmers under the project in the selected unions was prepared with the help of the coordthator of this project in Melandah Upazilla. Around 10% of the populations were randomly selected as the sample of the study by using random sampling method. Thus, 105 farmers constituted the sample of the study. A well structured interview schedule was developed based on objectives of the study for collecting information. The researcher himself collected data through personal contact. Among the respondents, the highest proportions (48.57 percent) of the farmers belong to the group of moderately favorable attitude towards the program followed by 43.81 percent in highly favorable group and 7.62 percent in low favorable attitude group. Annual family income, innovativeness and knowledge about the program had significant positive relationships with attitude of farmers towards 'one house one farm' program. Farm size and cosmopoliteness had non significant positive relationships with attitude of farmers towards 'one house one farm' program. On the other hand, age, level of education, organization participation, and extension media contact had negative non-significant relationship with attitude of farmers towards 'one house one farm' program.
