Abstract:
South Western region of Bangladesh is famous for mangrove forest,
positioned at 22°55'N latitude and 89°15'E longitudes with a wide range
of ecosystem. The present investigation was conducted to record the
biodiversity, distribution and morphology of mushrooms of south western
region of Bangladesh. The survey were conducted from June to October
2014 in 8 Upazilas belong to 6 districts namely Kushtia, Meherpur,
Chuadanga, Jessore, Satkhira and Khulna. A total of 37 mushroom
species belonging to 23 genera under 18 families were recorded during
the survey. Among the collected species Poronidulus conchifer and
Schizophyllum commune were found to be abundant in the surveyed
areas. The maximum frequency (25%) of occurrence was exhibited by
Schizophyllum commune, Poronidulus conchifer and Lepiota cristata and
the maximum density (83.78%) was recorded for Calvatia cyathiformis
and Schizophyllum commune followed by Lepiota atrodisca (75.67%),
Cyathus striatus (62.16%) and Trametes versicolor (48.64%). P.
conchifer was distributed in Paisshabari, Shyamnagar and Munshigonj,
Shyamnagar of Satkhira and Koira of Khulna district and S. commune
was distributed in Daulatpur of Kushtia and Shyamnagar of Satkhira
district of south western Bangladesh.
