| dc.description.abstract | An experiment was conducted at the Horticulture Farm of Sher-eBangla Agricultural University, Dhaka during the period from November 2011 to February 2012 to evaluate growth and yield of carrot as influenced by different types of organic manures (O organic manure, O c: cowdung and O vermicompost ) and neem products (N 0: no neem products, N 1: v: neem leaf powder and N neem oil cake) . The experiment was conducted in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. Application of organic manures and neem products significantly influenced the growth and yield contributing parameters. For organic manures, O gave the highest gross yield (33.33 t/ha) and marketable yield (32.20 t/ha) whereas, O produced the lowest gross yield (15.84 t/ha) and marketable (12.50t/ha) yield. The highest gross yield (27.89 t/ha) and marketable (25.60 t/ha) yield was obtained from N 1 and the lowest from N 0 0 . For combind effect N 1 O produced the highest marketable yield (29 t/ha) whereas, the lowest (09.00 t/ha) from N 0 O 0 v . The maximum benefit cost ratio (3.37) was obtained from O c N 1 and minimum (1.42) from N 0 O . So, it may be concluded that cowdung with neem leaf powder was found suitable for growth and yield of carrot. | en_US |
