| dc.description.abstract | A field experiment was conducted at the research farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka during March to June, 2014 to study the effect of nitrogen and phosphorous on growth and yield of BARI mash-2. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The unit plot size was 5.5m 2 (2.75m x 2.00m). There were two factors under the present study; Factor A – Nitrogen: three doses of nitrogen viz. (1) N = 0 kg N ha -1 (2) N 1 = 20 kg N ha -1 (3) N 2 = 25 kg N ha -1 and Factor B – Phosphorus: three doses of phosphorus viz. (1) P 0 = 0 kg P ha -1 (2) P 1 = 10 kg P ha = 20 kg P ha -1 . There were nine treatment combinations in the experiment. All growth, yield and yield contributing parameter were significantly influenced by nitrogen and phosphorus. The highest plant height (53.57 cm), number of leaves plant (67.33), number of branches plant -1 (10.58), dry weight plant -1 (21.70 g) was recorded under the treatment combination of N 2 P 2 (25 kg N ha -1 -1 (3) P combined with 20 kg P ha ) at harvest period. The highest number of pods plant -1 (85.41), pod length (6.34 cm), number of seeds pod -1 (7.91), 1000 seed weight (45.04 g), grain yield (1.70 t ha ) and harvest index (44.38%) were found from N 1 P 2 (20 kg N ha -1 combined with 20 kg P ha -1 ). -1 2 0 -1 -1 | en_US |
