Abstract:
The present study was conducted at the Horticulture farm of Sher-e-Bangla
Agricultural University. Dhaka, during the period from 20 April. 2008 to 16 May.
2009 to investigate the eflèct of nitrogen and potassium on the growth, flower and
bulb yield of tuherose. The experiment consisted of two factors. Factor A: Four levels
of nitrogen i.e. N
o : 0. N
1: 185. N2: 195 and N
3
: 205 kg N/ha and Factor B: Four levels
of potassium i.e. K
0: 0, K]: 180. K
2:
190 and K3:
200 kg K
2
0Iha respectively. The
experiment was (aid out with Randomized Complete Block Design with three
replications. The highest flower (24.51 I/ha) and bulb (28.18 I/ha) yield was recorded
from N
3
and the lowest was obtained from control condition (8.71 I/ha and 15.19 I/ha
respectively). On the other hand. the highest flower (18.00 t/ha) and bulb (23.91 I/ha)
yield was noted from K
3
and the lowest was from control treatment (13.72 tlha and
19.42 t/ha respectively). The maximum flower yield (28.12 t/ha), bulb yield (32.21
I/ha) and benefit cost ratio (3.27) was found from the treatment combination of N
and the minimum from control. So. the best results were obtained from 205 kg N/ha
when combined with 200 kg K
20/ha.
