Abstract:
The study was conducted at the Horticultural Farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural
University. Ohaka during the period from April 2008 to April 2009. The
experiment consisted of
two
factors. Factor A: Three levels of number of eye in
each rhizome. E1 : 1 eye. E2 : 2 eyes and E
3
: 3 eyes and Factor B: Four levels of
potassium, K
0 : 0 kg, K1 : 90 kg, K2
: 110 kg and K
3 : 130 kg K2
0/ha respectively.
The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCI3D)
with three replications. In case of number of eyes, the highest yield (24.58 tlha)
was recorded from E2
and the lowest (22.31 tlha) was from E1
. In case of
potassium, the highest yield (26.81 t/ha) was observed from K
3
and the lowest
(15.14 tlha) was found from K0
. For combined effect E
2K1
produced the highest
yield (28.82 tiha) and lowest (14.89 tlha) from E
1 K0
. The highest benefit cost ratio
(2.50) was noted from E2K3
and the lowest (1.38) from E
1 K0
. So, two eyed
rhizome with 130 kg K
2
0/ha was found suitable for growth and yield ortunneric.
