dc.description A Thesis Submitted to the Department of Horticulture Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF SCIENCE (MS) IN HORTICULTURE en_US
dc.description.abstract The study was conducted at the Farm of Sher-e-l3angla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period from November, 2007 to June, 2008. The experiment consisted with two factors. Factor A: Three levels of spacing: S: 15 x 10; S: 20 x 10 and 53:25 cm2 and Factor B: Five levels of potassium: K 0: 0kg (Control); K3 : 90kg; K2: 120 kg; K 3: 150 kg and K. 1: 180 kg K 2 0/ha, respectively. The experiment was laid out with Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. In case of spacing the highest flowering plant (91.07%). thousand number of spike (761.48), number of cormel per plant (23.47), highest yield of corm (17.08 Vha) and yield of cormel (13.83 tTha) were recorded from S2 while all the above parameters were lowest at St. In case of potassium, the highest flowering plant (94.00%), thousand number of spike (790.12), number of cormel per plant (23.43), highest yield of corm (16.23 i.fha) and yield of connel (13.09 t/ha) were recorded from K 3 and lowest from Km For interaction effect the highest flowering plant (96.67%), thousand number of spike (844.44), number of cormet per plant (25.60), highest yield of corm (18.66 tlha) and yield of cormel (14.92 Vita) were recorded from S 1 K3 and the lowest from S3 K0 . The highest benefit cost ratio (2.43) was obtained from S 2 K; and the lowest (1.31) from S;K0 . So, 20cm 10cm spacing with 150 kg K 2 0/ha were best for growth and flowering of gladiolus. en_US
