dc.description.abstract The field experiment was conducted at the Horticulture Ilirni of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. Dhaka during the period from October, 2007 to January, 2008 to study the performance of nitrogen and moisture management techniques on growth and yield of kohirabi. The trial consisted of four levels of nitrogen fertilizer, viz., No: 0; N 1 : 80: N 2: 160: N 3 : 240 kg N/ha respectively and five different moisture management techniques. viz., M 1; : No moisture management; M 1 : Straw mulch; M2: Water hyacinth mulch; M 3 : Black plastic mulch; M 4 : Three times of irrigation. The experiment was carried out in randomized complete block design with three replication. Most of the parameter varied insignificantly as influenced by the application of moisture management techniques and nitrogen fertilizer. Maximum marketable yield (35.9 t(ha) was obtained from N 3 and the lowest (24.5 hIm) was obtained with N o . For moisture management, M 2 produced the highest yield (35.4 i/ha) and the lowest yield (27.4 hJha) was recorded from M0 . Combination of N 3M2 gave the highest yield (41.3 tlha) and the lowest (12.9 hlha) was received from N 0M13 . Benefit cost ratio was maximum (3.9) in the treatment combination of N 3M2 and the lowest (1.4) was in control treatment. So. 240 kg N/ha with water hyacinth was best for growth and yield of kohirabi. en_US
