dc.description.abstract A field experiment was conducted in the experimental field of Genetics and Plant Breeding and laboratory of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. Dhaka. Bangladesh duriniz the period of 301h March 2010 to 20 June 2010 The experiment was conducted in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. There were a grcat (teal of significant variations for all the characters among the genotypes. Considering genetic parameters, high genotypic co-ef'Iicicnt of variation (CCV) was observed for number of primary branch and seed yield per plant whereas number of' seed per pod and days to 80% maturity showed low CCV. In all cases, phenotypic variances were higher than the genotypic variances. High heritability with low genetic advance in percent of nean was observed for days to 50% flowering which indicated that non-additive gene effects were involved for the expression of this character and selection for such trait might not be rewarding. High heritability with high genetic advance in percent of mean was observed for number of primary branch per plant and thousand seed weight indicating that this trait was tinder additive gene control and selection for genetic improvement for this trait would be effective. The results obtained from the study showed that seed yield per plant had highest significant positive correlation with thousand seed weight which indicated that, if thousand seed weight increase, seed yield per plant also increase. Seed yield per plant had also significant positive correlation with seed per pod at genotypic level. Insignificant positive correlation was lound with seed per pod at phenotypic level. So, these are found the important characters and could be used on direct selection fbr yield. Considering group distance and other agronoinic performance the inter genotypic crosses between 016 and 047: 016 and 613: 047 and 013: 021 and 019: 08 and G21; 021 and 035: Wand (iS: 03 and 035: 03 and (i19: 08 and 019 may be suggested for future hybridization programme. en_US
