Abstract:
An experiment was conducted at the Sher-e- Bangla Agricultural University Farm,
Dhaka-1207 during Kharif-1 from March 2015 to June 2015 to evaluate the
influence of different combinations of organic and inorganic fertilizer in sesame.
The experiment was laid out following Randomized Complete Block Design
(RCBD) with three replications. There were 12 treatments such as- T
= control,
T
1
= chemical fertilizer, T
2
= mixed fertilizer, T
= cowdung + 25% FRD (FRD =
Fertilizer at Recommended Dose), T
5
4
3
= vermicompost + 25% FRD, T
= poultry
manure + 25% FRD, T
6
= cowdung + 50% FRD, T
= vermicompost + 50% FRD,
T
8
= poultry manure + 50% FRD, T
9
7
= cowdung + 75% FRD, T
= vermicompost
+ 75% FRD, T
11
10
= poultry manure + 75% FRD. The results of the experiment
revealed that plant height, number of branches plant

, dry matter weight plant
,
number of capsules plant

, number of seeds capsule
-1
, 1000 seed weight, seed
yield, stover yield, biological yield and harvest index were significantly influenced
by different combinations of organic and inorganic fertilizers. The highest number
of capsules plant
-1
(88.93), number of seeds capsule
-1
(68.67), 1000 seed weight
(2.83g), seed yield (1656.4 kg ha

), stover yield (2309.82 kg ha
-1
), harvest index
(42.35%) were fonud from the application of chemical fertilizer which were
statistically similar with the treatment combination comprised of poultry manure +
75% FRD and vermicompost + 75% FRD. So treatment of poultry manure + 75%
FRD and vermicompost + 75% FRD seems to be promosing in sesame cultivation
which reduced the 25% chemical fertilizer use.
