The experiment was carried out during the period from March 2017 to June 2017
at the Agronomy farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka to
evaluate the effect of boron and zinc on the growth and yield performance of
mungbean (var:BARI Mung-6). The experiment comprised of two factors; Factor
A: Three levels of boron - (i) B
R
= Recommended dose of B, (ii) B
= 20% less
than recommended dose of B and (iii) B
= 20% higher than recommended dose
of B and Factors B: Three levels of zinc - (i) Zn
ii
R+20
= Recommended dose of Zn, (ii)
Zn
R-20
R
= 20% less than recommended dose of Zn and (iii) Zn
= 20% higher
than recommended dose of Zn. The experiment was laid out in a randomized
complete block design using three replications. Data on different growth
parameters, yield contributing parameters and yield were recorded. Results
showed significant variations in the growth and yield parameters due to the
application of varying levels of boron and zinc; and also applying them combined.
Higher values of almost all the parameters were observed with the interaction
treatments B
R
Zn
R
R+20
and also with other interaction treatments having 20% higher
amount of boron and zinc over the recommended dose. Significantly the highest
dry weight per plant was obtained with B
R+20
Zn
(68.07 g). However the higher
seed yields (1362-1371 kg/ha) were obtained with B
R+20
R
Zn
R
R-20
and B
combination of treatments which were attributed to the higher values of number of
pods per plant (23.45-24.25), number of seeds per pod (12.72-12.87) and 1000
seed weight (over 47 g) of these two interaction treatments. |
