dc.description.abstract An experiment was conducted at “Horticultural Farm” of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University farm, Dhaka to study the effect of nitrogen and lime (CaO) on growth and yield of aloe vera during November 2019 to July 2020. The experiment consisted of two factors. Factor A: Three levels of nitrogen viz., N 0 = 0 kg N ha -1 (control), N = 100 kg N ha -1 and N 2 = 150 kg N ha -1 and Factor B: Three levels of lime (CaO) viz., L = 0 kg CaO ha -1 (control), L 1 = 100 kg CaO ha -1 and L 2 = 150 kg CaO ha -1 . The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Data were recorded on growth and yield attributes of aloe vera. In the case of different nitrogen levels, maximum yield of mature leaves per plot (5.35 kg) and gel/peel ratio (1.73) were recorded from N treatment. Regarding different lime (CaO) levels, maximum yield of aloe vera per plot (4.85 kg) and gel/peel ratio (1.70) were recorded from L 2 2 treatment. Considering combined effect of different levels of nitrogen and lime (CaO), maximum yield of aloe vera per plot (5.52 kg), yield of aloe vera per hectare (24.53 t) and gel/peel ratio (1.75) were recorded from N 2 L treatment combination while minimum yield of aloe vera per plot (3.72 kg), yield of aloe vera per hectare (16.53 t) and gel/peel ratio (1.44) were recorded from N 0 L 2 treatment combination. Therefore, grower can apply 150 kg N ha -1 with 150 kg CaO ha 0 -1 for better growth and yield of aloe vera. en_US
