dc.description.abstract An experiment was carried out at the Tissue Culture Laboratory and Culture House of Mushroom Development Institute, Savar, Dhaka, during the period from July 2019 to December 2019 to find out the performance of different amount of maize straw substrates on the growth and yield of oyster mushroom. The experiment consisted of three varieties, viz. V 1 (Pleurotus djamor), V 2 (Pleurotus florida) and V 3 (Pleurotus ostreatus) and five different amount of maize straw substrates with 10% mother culture such as T 1 = 500g per packet, T 2 = 750 g per packet, T 3 = 1000 g per packet, T 4 = 1500 g per packet and T 5 = 2000 g per packet. The experiment was laid out in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four replications. Significant variation was found in all parameter due to the effect of different amount of maize straw substrates. The highest number of fruiting body (19.00), number of effective fruiting body (12.08) and highest yield (128.67g) were recorded in T 3 treatment. On the other hand, variety of mushroom showed influence on all parameter. The maximum yield (92.60 g), the highest number of fruiting body (17.80), number of effective fruiting body (11.10) were observed in V 2 variety. The combination between different variety of oyster mushroom and different amount of maize straw substrates was found significant variation on the yield. The maximum yield (164.75g) was produced by V 2 T 3 treatment and the minimum yield (49.75g) was produced by V 1 T 1 which followed by V 1 T 5 treatment. en_US
