Abstract:
The study was conducted to identify the major factors that influence women to involved in ebusiness
and the challenges faced by the women entrepreneurs while running e-business in thestudy area. For this, a survey has been conveyed to find out the consequences of womenentrepreneurship through e-business on women empowerment related issues. Data have beencollected through a semi-structured questionnaire from a sample of 50 women entrepreneursoperating online business located in Dhaka city. Purposive sampling technique was applied. Datawere analyzed by the concerned software SPSS 21(Statistical package for the Social Science). Theresult of the study reveals that through e-business women can achieve self-independency,economic freedom and better standard of living. The result also represents that personalsatisfaction and achievement, time flexibility, convenience, lack of desired job and economicnecessity factors are significantly influence women’s participation in e-business. The findings ofthis study depict that inadequate access to finance, gender discrimination, lack of entrepreneurialtraining and skills, lack of support and trust are the major problems faced by the womenentrepreneurs while running their e-business. In the recommendation, the study suggested that thegovernment and policy-makers should take initiatives steps to stimulate women participation in ebusiness.
