ABSTRACT
The objectives of this study were to describe some selected characteristics of the
homestead vegetable cultivators; to assess the influence of homestead vegetable
cultivation on rural women well-being and to explore the contribution of the selected
characteristics of the vegetable cultivators to their perceived influence of homestead
vegetable cultivation on rural women well-being. The study was conducted with
randomly selected 103 women of Guarekha union under Nesarabad upazila of
Pirojpur district. A pre-tested interview schedule was used to collect data from the

November, 2020. Influence of homestead
vegetable cultivation on rural women well-being was the dependent variable and nine
selected characteristics of the respondents contributed the independent variables of the
study. Linear multiple regression was used to examine the contribution of the selected
characteristics of the respondents. The data revealed that highest percentage (64.08%)
of the rural women had medium influence of homestead cultivation compared to
26.21 percent and 9.71 percent had low and high influence,respectively. Four
characteristics of the respondent’s viz. extension media contact, education, training on
homestead vegetable cultivation and knowledge about homestead vegetable
cultivation had significant positive contribution with influence of homestead
vegetable cultivation. Therefore, the policy makers should consider these significant
variables for makers policies regarding expand of homestead vegetable cultivation.
