Abstract:
Landslide is one of the major obstacles in the hill tract region in many parts of the world,
especially in developing nations like Bangladesh. The cost of protecting landslide is high,
and the national budget for such works is never sufficient. For this reason, we need to
find out the best natural solutions for this problem. We think vetiver grass has the ability
to protect landslide. The study aims to identify vetiver grass management and sustainable
use of it to protect against natural disasters in the hill tract region. The research field data
were collected at six different areas of the hill tracts region under Chattogram and Cox’s
Bazar district. Data were collected from 140 randomly selected people using structured
questionnaires. The study results come out that vetiver grass is a very easy to establish,
inexpensive, low maintenance, and incredibly efficient means of natural disaster
reduction.
