dc.description.abstract An experiment was accomplished on the rooftop of agricultural faculty of Sher-eBangla Agricultural University during the period from July to September, 2018 to screen some Photobioreactors for finding out more economically convenient and easily available one for spirulina production in Bangladesh. Four types of photobioreactors viz. Rectangular shaped 5L photobioreactor (PBR 1 ), Cuboidal shaped 3L Photobioreactor (PBR 2 ), Cylindrical shaped 15L Photobioreactor(PBR 3 ), Rectangular shaped 15L Photobioreactor (PBR 4 ) ware used in this experiment arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. Fifteen days of production was carried out in the selected photobioreactors to fully determine the performance of the PBR s where culture condition were kept the same and data on different growth and yield parameters were taken throughout the experiment to which all the PBR S showed significant variations. Among photobioreactors, minimum doubling time (3.41 days), maximum productivity (0.90 gL -1 day -1 ) and maximum marketable yield (3.34 Kg/1000L) were found in PBR 4 while maximum doubling time (10.63 days) and minimum productivity (0.40 gL -1 day -1 ) and minimum marketable yield (1.64 Kg/1000L) in PBR 2 . These findings may be a source of valuable information for adopting Rectangular shaped 15L Photobioreactor (PBR 4 ) as a promising photobioreactor for spirulina cultivation in Bangladesh. en_US
