Abstract:
The field experiment was carried out during the period from October 2017 to February 2018
at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka. There were four nitrogen levels, No: no
nitrogen (control), N
1
: 75 kg N ha
-1
, N
2
: 125 kg N ha
-1
and N
3
: 175 kg N ha
and four
phosphorus levels: P
0
: no phosphorus (control), P
1
: 30 kg P ha

, P
2
: 40 kg P ha
: 50
kg P ha

. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three
replications. The highest value of different parameters were observed in nitrogen fertilizer
levels N
3
(175 Kg N ha
-1
) and lowest in nitrogen fertilizer levels N
o
(control)
. On the other
hand, the highest value was observed for individual fruit weight and fruit yield per plant in
nitrogen dose N
2
(125 kg N ha
-1
) and lowest in nitrogen dose N
(control). The highest value
of different parameters were observed in phosphorus fertilizer levels P

and P
(40 Kg P ha
) and
lowest in phosphorus fertilizer levels P
(control). The highest yield of individual plant was
obtained as 1.18 Kg and 1.15 Kg with the application of 125 Kg N ha

3
and 40 Kg P ha-
respectvely. The combined effect of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers has positive effect on
growth and yield related traits. Maximum fruit weight (62.14 g) and fruit yield per plant
(1.25 kg) was produced by the treatment combination N
3
P
2
(175 Kg N ha
-1
and 40 Kg P ha
).
It was concluded that the treatment combination N
3
P
2
(175 Kg N ha
-1
and 40 Kg P ha
) were
found to the most suitable treatment combination for the highest yield of brinjal.
