Abstract:
The purpose of the study was to determine and describe the extent of adoption of
modern jute cultivation practices by the farmers. Attempts were also made to describe
some of the selected characteristics of the farmers and to explore the relationships
between the selected characteristics and their adoption of modern jute cultivation
practices. The study was conducted at five villages namely; Nandina, Daulutpur
,Mirpur, Sonaidanga and Modhupur under Gaibandha sadar Upazila under Gaibandha
District. Data were collected from 103 farmers who were randomly selected as the
sample of the study by using random sampling method. The researcher himself
collected data through personal contact with a well-structured pretested interview
schedule during the period from 16 January to 04 February 2019. The findings
revealed that highest 65.0 percent of the respondents had medium adoption of modern
jute cultivation practices, while 19.4 percent had low adoption and the rest 15.5
percent had high adoption of modern jute cultivation practices. Pearson’s Product
