dc.description.abstract A field experiment was conducted at the Floriculture Research Field, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Gazipur from October 2012 to May 2013. The experiment consisted of two factors such as Factor A: corm size (3 levels) : large (50 g) - S medium (30 g) - S 2 and small (15 g) - S 100, G 2 - GA 3 150, G 3 3 and Factor B: plant growth regulator (seven levels) (G -GA 3 200, G 4 -BAP 50, G 5 -BAP 100 and G 6 0 1, - Control, G - BAP 150 ppm, respectively). This experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. The results of the experiment showed that the corm size and plant growth regulators had significant effect on most of the parameters. Maximum yield of spike (230000/ha) was observed for largest corm size and minimum (180000/ha) for smallest corm size. Among all concentration of plant growth regulators, GA at 200 ppm produced the highest yield per hectare (250000 spikes) while control produced lowest yield (200000 spikes). However, the treatment combination of large size corm and GA 3 3 at 200 ppm showed the best performance in respect of vegetative growth, flower and corm production in Gladiolus. en_US
