dc.description.abstract The experiment was conducted during the period of July to November, 2017 in the experimental farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka to assess the effect of NPK briquette fertilization on the growth and yield of aromatic rice variety BRRI dhan70. The experiment comprised of the following 7 treatments as- T 0 : Control i.e. no fertilizer; T 1 ii : 100% RFD; T 2 : 120% RFD; T 3 : 80% RFD; T 4 : 1 NPK briquette in between 4 hills and T 5 : 2 NPK briquette in between 4 hills and T 6 : 80% RFD + 1 NPK briquette in between 4 hills. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Data were recorded on different yield contributing characters, yield and characteristics of post-harvest soil. Statistically significant variation was recorded for different treatments. During harvest, the longest plant (126.06 cm) was recorded from T 6 treatment, while the shortest plant (110.68 cm) from T 0 . The maximum number of effective tillers hill (22.80) was observed from T 6 treatment, whereas the minimum number (15.40) from T 0 treatment. The longest panicle (26.63 cm) was recorded from T 6 treatment, while the shortest panicle (19.50 cm) from T 0 treatment. The maximum number of filled grains panicle -1 treatment, while the minimum number (101.60) from T 0 (120.60) was observed from T 6 treatment. The highest grain yield (4.72 t ha -1 ) was recorded from T 6 treatment, while the lowest grain yield (2.04 t ha -1 ) from T 0 treatment. In post-harvest soil, the highest total N (0.067%) was found from T 6 treatment, while the lowest soil total N (0.021%) from T 0 treatment. The highest available P (39.32 ppm) was observed from T 6 treatment, whereas the lowest available P (14.40 ppm) from T 0 treatment. The highest exchangeable K (0.177 meq/100 g soil) was observed from T 6 treatment, while the lowest exchangeable K (0.123 meq/100 g soil) from T 0 treatment. Applications of T 6 treatment (80% RFD + 1 briquette NPK) was the superior among the other treatments in consideration of yield contributing characters and yield of aromatic rice variety BRRI dhan70. en_US
