dc.description.abstract The experiment was conducted at the experimental field of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka during the period from October, 2010 to March, 2011 to study the feasibility of replacing chemical fertilizer by using organic fertilizer in mustard. There are 10 treatments in this experiment comprised with organic manure and inorganic fertilizer and their treatments combinations including control viz., T0 (control), T1 (all chemical fertilizer at recommended dose), T2 (Cowdung at rcommended dose), T3 (compost at recommended dose), T4 (½ Cowdung + ½ Compost), T5 cowdung + compost), T6 (Cowdung + ½ Chemical fertilizer), T7 (Compost + ½ Chemical fertilizer), T8 (Cowdug + Compost + ½ Chemical fertilizer) and T9 (½ Cowdug + ½ compost + ½ chemical fertilizer) on growth and yield performance of mustard var. BARI sarisha-15. The experiment was conducted following Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) single factor with 3 replications. Among the treatments, all chemical fertilizer at recommended dose (T1) and organic cowdung and compost in combination with half chemical fertilizer (T8) were superior than other individual or combination of organic and inorganic treatments considering the all morphological, yield and yield contributing characters of mustard. Treatment of half cowdung and half compost with half chemical fertilizer (T9) also showed statistically similar result in respect of yield contributing characters as well as seed yield. So, it is possible to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers by combined use of organic and chemical fertilizer without significant yield loss of mustard. en_US
