Abstract:
The experiment was conducted at the Agronomy Field of Sher-e-Bangla
Agricultural University, Dhaka during the Kharif -II season from June to
November, 2012 to study the effect of variety and NAA on the water relations
and yield of mungbean. In experiment, the treatment consisted of two variety
viz., V
1
= BARI mung 2, V
= BARI mung 5, and five different doses of NAA,
viz., N
0
= 0 ppm NAA, N
1
2
= 20 ppm NAA, N
2
= 40 ppm NAA, N
= 60 ppm
NAA, N
= 80 ppm NAA. The experiment was laid out in a two factors
randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Variety
and NAA had significant influence on water relations, yield and yield
components of mungbean. The highest RWC was obtained from BARI mung 5
with 80 ppm NAA treatment. The highest exudation rate was obtained from
BARI mung 2 with 40 ppm NAA treatment. The tallest plant (94.73 cm) was
obtained from BARI mung 2 with 80 ppm NAA. The Longest pod was
recorded in BARI mung 5, 20 ppm NAA and BARI mung 5 20 ppm
interactions. The highest number of pods per plant was recorded in BARI mung
2. The maximum number of pods per plant was obtained from 20 ppm NAA.
The maximum number of pods per plant was obtained from BARI mung 2 with
20 ppm NAA

treatment. The maximum seed yield (1.39 t ha
-1
) was found in
BARI mung 5. The maximum seed yield (1.43 t ha
-1
) was obtained from 20
ppm. The highest seed yield (1.51 t ha
-1
) was obtained from BARI mung 5 with
20 ppm NAA while the lowest (1.00 t ha
-1
) from BARI mung 5 with 0 ppm
NAA.
