Jhinaigati forest area locally called Gajni forest which is covered near about 9660
acres of lands located in northern hilly areas of Bangladesh. In a survey program

genera under 16 families. The dominant families were Agaricaceae, Polyporaceae,
Ganodermataceae, Marasmiaceae, Psathyrellaceae and Tricholomataceae. The
predominant genera were Agaricus, Trametes, Ganoderma, Marasmius and
Clitocybe. The maximum density of 120.45, 111.36 and 95.45% were recorded for
Psathyrella candolleana, Cortinarius semisanguineus and Dacryopinax spatularia,
respectively. This is the first detailed investigation on macrofungi in Gajni forest
