dc.description.abstract The experiment was conducted with thirty four BC1F, progenies of Brassica napus and one check variety at the experimental farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural university. Dhaka- 1207, during november, 2010 to March, 2011 to study the variability, correlation and path analaysis in BC, F, generation of Brassica napus. Comparatively phenotvpic variances were higher than the genotypie variances for all the characters studied. The high OCY value was observed for number of secondary branches per plant. High heritability with low genetic advance in percent of mean was observed for number of seeds per siliqua, siliqua length and thousand seed weight indicating that non-additive gene effects were involved for the expression of these characters and selection for such traits might not be rewarding. Iligh heritability with high genetic advance in percent of mean was observed for number of siliqua per plant and seed yield per plant indicating that these traits were under additive gene control and selection for genetic improvement for these traits would be effective. The results of correlation revealed that yield per plant had positive association with plant height, days to 50% (lowering and days to maturity. Path co-efficient analysis revealed that plant height, days to 50% flowering, days to maturity and thousand seed weight had the positive direct effect on yield per plant. Whereas, number of primary branches per plant, number of secondary branches per plant, number of siliquae per plant, number of seeds per siliqua and siliqua length had the negative direct effect on yield per plant. en_US
