dc.description A Thesis Submitted to the Faculty of Agriculture, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural Lniversity,Dhaka, In partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF SCIENCE IN AGRICULTURAL CHEMISTRY SEMESTER. JUL-DEC, 2014 en_US
dc.description.abstract An experiment was conducted at Shcr-e-Bangla Agricultural University Farm, Dhaka1207 with a view to evaluate the effect of sulfur and boron on the growth. yield, oil and nutrient content of BARI 111-4 during (he period from April to July, 2014. The experiment was consisted of four levels of sulfur (So 0. Sj= 10, S2= 20 and S3 = 30 kg S ha-) and four levels of boron (130 = 0. B1 = 10. B2= 1.5 and B3= 2kg B ha"'). It was replicated thrice in a randomized complete block design. The results showed that sulfur, boron and their interaction significantly influenced most of the growth and yield contributing characters such as plant height. number of leaves per plant number of branches per plant, fresh and dry weight of leaves, fresh and dry weight of stern. number of capsules. number of seeds per capsule. 1000-seed weight, fresh weight of pods, seed dry weight. stover dry weight, seed -stover ratio (on dry weight basis), seed yield, stover yield, biological yield, harvest index, oil content and sulfur concentration in seed of sesame. All parameters studied in this experiment increased with the increasing sulfur levels. 30 kg S ha'' gave the highest results in all cases. Except 1000seedweight and S concentration in seed, the yield contributing parameters increased with the increasing boron levels up to 1.5 kg ha" which showed statistically similar results with most of the parameters of 2 kg ha". The highest seed yield (1.657 ton ha' 5, oil content (44.60 %) and S concentration (0.2157 %) were obtained from the interaction of S3B2 (30 kg S had and 1.5 kg B ha") treatment due to the production of the highest number of capsules plant", maximum number of seeds capsule" and highest weight of 1000-seed. en_US
