Abstract:
the stimly was to determine the training need of Sub
Assistant Agriculture officers and to explore its relationships with some selected
characteristics of the sub Assistant Agriculture officers. The study was
conducted offive selected upazila under Dinajpur District. An updated list of
(120) Sub Assistant Agriculture officers were collected from Upazila
Agriculture OJjice of respective upazilas. Where front 75% of total nu,nber of
SAAOs were 90 Sub Assistant Agriculture of/leers were selected at random as
sample for this study. Data were collected during 5

November 2008 by using an interview schedule. Each of the eight
characteristics of Sub Assistant Agriculture officers, namely age, education,
rural bac/cground, tenure of service, duration of training received,
communication exposure, cosniopolitans and organizational participation
constituted the independent variables, while training needs of' Sub Assistant
Agriculture officers were the dependent variable. Peaiwon 's product moment
correlation co-efficient ()') was used to explore the relationships between. the
selected characteristics of sub fssistant Agriculture officers and their training
need The majority (51 percent) of the respondents had required moderate
training needs, while 26 percent had high and 23 percent had low training
needs. Out
