Abstract:
The present study was conducted in Muktagaeha Upazila under Mymcnsingh
District. The main purpose was to timd out the communication media used bN the
opinion leaders in receiving agricultural inlormation thr pert'orming various
Eiuining operations and to explore the relationship hetween the use of'
communication media by the opinion leader and their sciceted characteristics. •l he
characieristics were age. level ol education. family size, farm size, anntial ilicotlie,
organizational participation, innovativenc.ss, cosniopolitcness and agricultural
knowledge. Data were collected personally through interview schedule from one
hundred randomly selected opinion leaders during April 20. 2008 to May ID:
2008.Majority of the opinion leaders. such as 45 percent of them had nieclium
uselulness. As regards to relationship among different variables, level cit
education: organizational participation: innovativeness: cosnwpoliteness and
agricultural knowledge of the opinion leaders had signiticant relationship with
their use of communication media. The opinion leaders also identilied some of the
problems stick as., inadcquatc farm and home visit by the extension agents. is the
main one, inappropriate selection of contact fuirniers and inadequate demonstration
activities in the field were major obstacles to receive agricultural information by
the opinion leader.
