AlTITUDE OF ELITE RURAL PEOPLE TOWARDS EXTENSION ACT WIT ItS OF DAE PERFORMED BY UPAZILLA AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION PERSONNEL

Abstract

The main purpose of the study was to determine and describe the attitude of elite rural people towards extension activities of DAE performed by Upazilla Agricultural Extension Personnel and to explore the relationship between the selected characteristics of elite rural people and their extent of attitude towards extension activities of DAE performed by Upazilla Agricultural Extension Personnel. The study was conducted in Ratanpur and Rasullabad Union covering 5 villages of Nabinagar Upazilla under Brahrnanbaria District. Data were collected from the elite rural people using a pre-tested interview schedule during the period from 15th May 2008 to 101h June 2008. From the study it was found that the highest proportion (43.14 percent) of the respondents had moderate favorable attitude compared to 33.33 percent having high favorable attitude and 23.53 percent had less favorable attitude. Pearson Product Moment Correlation (r) test was used to ascertain the relationships between the concerned dependent and indepcndent variables of the study. Findings revealed that education, farm size, time spent for farm work, organizational participation. cosmopolitness, extension contact and knowledge on agriculture of elite rural people showed positive significant relationship while age, annual family income of elite rural people did not show any significant relationship with their attitude towards extension activities of DAE performed by Upazilla Agricultural Extension Personnel.
