Abstract:
The purpose of the study was to have an under standing on the communication
exposure of the fiirmers in receiving information on rice production technologies
and to determine the relationship of selected characteristics of the farmers with
their communication exposure
Data were collected from 100 randomly respondent of two selected villages of
Damador union under Phultala IJpazila of Khulna district. Data were collected by
using an interview schedule from the farmers during 1" February to
2006. The findings indicated that the farmers in the study area used all types of
communication media. Among the selected communication media Sub-Assistant
Agricultural Officer, lërtilizer dealer, television, group discussion meeting and
neighbours and relatives
were
the most used communication media respectively.
Progressive farmers, friends, newspapers. Agricultural Extension Officer, meeting
at result demonstration, also came out as important media for communicating
agricultural information. But I radio, farm and home visits, tJpazila Agricultural
Officer, seed dealer and companies representative media were used as least media
respectively.
Correlation analysis indicated that age, farming experience cosmopoliteness and
agricultural knowledge of the fiwmers were significantly related with their use of
communication media. However. farm size, organizational participation.
innovativeness of the farmers had no significant relationship with their
communication exposure
