Abstract:
The field experiment was conducted at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University
Fanu, l)haka during the Aman season from 7 Jul)
-
 to 3 December 2007 to
observe the performance of nitrogen and spacing on the yield and yield
contributing characters of BRRI dhan 44. The experiment consist of four levels
of nitrogen viz. 0, 40. 80 and 120 kgha' and three spacing viz. 25 cm
x 25 cm,
25 cm
x
20 cm and 25 cm x
IS cm. The experiment was laid out in split plot
design with three replications, assigning the N rates in the main plot and
spacing in the sub-plots. Gradual Increase of N up to a certain level increased
plant height, tillers hiw', eiièctive tillers hilt', grains panicle', grain and straw
yield. The spacing 25 cm
x 15 cm showed better performance in all parameters
compared to other spacing. Nitrogen @ 80 kg ha coupled with hill
arrangement at 25cm x
15 cm influenced plant to produce more yield
components and yield. The maximum yield 5.69 thai' was recorded for this
combination effect
