A field experiment was conducted at the Sher-e- Bangla Agricultural University Farm
Dhaka 1207 during the rabi season from November 2015 to March 2016 to study the
effect of N and B to alone and combined on the growth and yield of BARI Gom-28.
The experiment comprised of four levels of N viz., 0, 40, 80 and 120 kg ha
and three
levels of B viz., 0, 1 and 1.5 kg ha
-1
. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized
Complete Block Design with three replications. The results of the experiment showed
that there were significant effect on yield and yield attributes of wheat due to the
application of N and B. Nitrogen showed significant effect on yield and yield
attributes of wheat. Application of nitrogen @ 120 kg N ha
-1
produced the highest
plant height, number of total tillers plant
-1
-1
, spike length, number of spikelet spike
,
number of grain spike
-1
, 1000-grain weight, grain yield, straw yield and harvest index.
In all the cases lower response was found from the control treatment. Boron fertilizer
also had significant effect on yield and yield attributes of wheat. Application of boron
@ 1 kg B ha
-1
gave the highest plant height, number of total tillers plant
, spike
-1
-1 length, number of spikelet spike
-1
, number of grain spike
-1
, 1000-grain weight, grain
yield, straw yield and harvest index. In all cases the lower response was found from
the control treatment. Interaction effect of N and B for yield and yield attributes of
wheat was found significant. The highest plant height, number of total tillers plant
,
spike length, number of spikelet spike
-1
, number of grain spike
-1
, 1000-grain weight,
grain yield, straw yield and harvest index of wheat were obtained from the treatment
combination of 120 kg N and 1 kg B ha
-1
. On the other hand, in all the cases lower
response was found from the control treatment. Results showed that grain yield of
wheat was increased with increasing levels of both N and B up to 120 kg ha
and 1 kg
ha
-1
, respectively. The interaction effect of N and B on both the parameters was
significant.
