Abstract:
The experiment was conducted in the Farm of Shcr-e-Bangla Agricultural University,
Dhaka. Bangladesh during the period from February to May 2008 to study the effect
of sulfur and boron on the growth and yield of mungbean. The variety BAR! mung-6
was used as the test crop. The experiment consists
of
two factors: Factor A: Sulfur (4
12 kg S ha": Factor B: Boron (3
levels): B0
: No boron (Control). B1
: I kg and B2
: 2 kg B ha". The experiment was laid
levels): S
0
: 0 kg (Control). 5
4: 4 kg, S: 8 kg and
512:
out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. At 25,
35. 45 and 55 DAS the maximum plant height, maximum number of leaves plant
4,
highest number of
pods plant" and highest seed yield
was recorded from
512
(12 kg S
ha"). while the shortest plant. lowest number of pod and lowest seed yield was
(no sulfur). At 25, 35. 45 and 55 DAS the longest plant. highest
number of pods plant'
and highest seed yield was recorded from B
recorded from
5o
2
(2 kg B ha''). On
the other hand the shortest plant, lowest number of pod and lowest seed yield was
recorded from l3 (no boron). At 25. 35.
45 and 55
DAS. the longest plant. hihest
number of pods plant" and highest seed yield was recorded from S8132 (8 kg S ha' and
2 kg B ha-
). while the shortest plant, lowest number of pod and lowest seed yield was
recorded from S
0B0
(no sulfur and boron). The highest p11, organic matter, total N.
available P. exchangeable K. available S and available B was recorded from S
g and
the lowest pH. organic matter, total N. available P. exchangeable K. available S and
available B was observed from S0
(no sulfur). The highest pH, organic matter, total N,
available P. exchangeable K, available S and available B was recorded from B
2 (2 kg
B ha") and the lowest pH. organic matter, total N, available P. exchangeable K,
available S and available B was observed from B
0
(no boron). The highest pIT, organic
matter, total N. available P. exchangeable K, available S and available B was recorded
from S8B2
(8 kg S ha" and 2 kg B ha") and the lowest pH. organic matter, total N.available P. exchangeable K, available S and available 13 was observed from SGBO (no
sulfur and boron).
