Abstract:
An experiment was conducted at the Horticulture Farm, Sher-e-Bangla
Agricultural University and Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period from October
2016 to February 2017. BARI broccoli-1 was selected for experimental crop.
The experiment consisted of two factors. Factor A: four levels of Zinc i.e. Z
:
control,
1
: 10 ppm, Z
2
:20 ppm, Z
: 30 ppm and Factor B:three levels
of Salicylic acid i.e S

: control
1
:0.3 mM, S
: 0.6 mM. This
experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Blocked Design with three
replications. Zinc and Salicylic acid influenced significantly on most of the
parameters. For Zinc treatments Z

performed best in case of plant height,
number of leaves, leaf length, leaf breadth and also in diameter of curd
. On the other hand, for salicylic
acid treatment S

performed best in case of plant height, number of leaves, leaf
length, leaf breadth and also in diameter of curd
. In combined effect, the highest yield

. So, 20 ppm zinc with
0.3 mM salicylic acid combinedly performed the best for the growth and curd
formation of broccoli.
