dc.description A Thesis Submitted to the Department of Horticulture Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF SCIENCE (MS) IN HORTICULTURE en_US
dc.description.abstract n expcnmcnt was conducted at the Horticulture Farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka during the period from August to October 2006 to study the effect of different levels of nitrogen viz. control (N0), 50 kg N per hectare (N1), 75 kg N per hectare (N2), and 100 kg N per hectare (N3) as well as different levels of P205 viz. control (Po), 65 kg P20s per hectare (P1), 75 kg P20s per hectare (P2) and 85 kg P20s per hectare (P3) on the growth and yield of Gimakalmi. The experiment was conducted in the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Application of different levels of nitrogen significantly influence the growth and yield of Gimakalmi. The maximum (20.00g) fresh weight of leaves per plant was obtained from 100 kg N per hectare while the minimum (18.66g) was found from control treatment at 60 DAS. The highest (8.27g) dry weight of leaves per plant was observed in N3 and the minimum (6.90g) was recorded from control treatment. The maximum (20.25g) fresh weight of leaves per plant was obtained from P3 treatment and minimum (18.00 g) fresh weight per plant was obtained from Po treatment. The combined effect of various levels of nitrogen and P205 were also found significant. The highest yield (62.66 t/ha) was obtained from the treatment combination N3P3 while the lowest yield (55.00t/ha) was obtained from the control treatment. The benefit cost ratio (BCR) was maximum (3 .00) in the treatment combination of N3P3 whereas the minimum (2.13) was recorded from the control treatment (NoPo). en_US
