dc.description.abstract A field experiment was conducted with 66 F5 genotypes of Brassica napus L. at the experimental field of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka to study the genetic diversity, variability, correlation and path coefficient analysis during November 2013 to February 2014. The genotypes were found significantly variable for most of the characters. Comparatively phenotypic variances were higher than the genotypic variances for all the characters studied. Also PCV were higher than the GCV for all the characters studied. Number of secondary branch, thousand seed weight, number of primary branch, number of siliqua per plant and seed yield per plant showed high broad base heritability. The significant positive correlation with seed yield per plant was found in number of siliqua per plant. siliqua length, number of seed per siliqua and thousand seed weight. Path coefficient analysis revealed that 50% flowering, number of siliqua per plant. number of seed per siliqua and thousand seed weight had the positive direct effect on yield per plant. The genotypes were grouped into six clusters. The highest inter cluster distance was observed between cluster IV and VI and the maximum intra cluster distance was found in cluster V. Considering group distance and other agronomic performance genotypes 012. G14. G15. G16, 017. 022 and 024 might be suggested for future hybridization program. en_US
