dc.description.abstract An experiment was conducted at experimental field. Sher-e-f3angla Agricultural University. Dhaka- 1207. Bangladesh during the period from November 2012 to April 2013 to study the genetic diversity in yield contributing and nutritional traits of tomato. Eighteen genotypes were used for the study. The genotypes were BD-7270.BD-7279. 13D-728) .]3D-7286.BD-7287.BD-7291 .BD-7292.BD-7295,BD-7298j3D-730 I .BD- 7306.BD-7760.BD-776 I .BD-7762,BD-9960,BARI Tomato-2.13ARI Tomato-3 and BARI Tomato-8. Data were recorded on days to first flowering. days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, plant height, number of cluster per plant, number of fruits per cluster. number of fruits per plant, single fruit weight, fruit length. fruit diameter, fruit yield per plant, % of brix content, lycopene content and vitamin C content. BAR! tomato-2 gave the best performance on number of cluster per plant, number of fruits per cluster. number of fruits per plant. single fruit weight. fruit length. fruit diameter, fruit yield per plant but in terms of % of brix content, lycopene content and vitamin C content. best performance were obtained from BD- 7760. BAR! tomato 8 and SD 7762 respectively. The number of fruit yield per plant showed highest range of variation (2275.91- 408.38)g with the highest mean value (I 157.83)g. In case of days to maturity, plant height. number of cluster per plant, number of fruits per cluster, number of fruits per plant and yield per plant showed higher influence of environment for the expression of these characters. The significant positive correlation with fruit yield per plant was found in single fruit weight (0.650 and 0.558). number of branches per plant (0.068 and 0.038). number of fruits per plant (0.223 and 0.206). lycopene content (0.089 and 0.048) and vitamin C content (0.046 and 0.028) at genotypic and plienotypic level. Non-significant negative correlation with seed yield per plant was also found in days to 50% flowering (-0.186 and -0.136) and plant height (-0.106 and -0.218) while the high significant negative correlation was found in days to maturity (-0.419 and -0.286). fruits per cluster (4337 and -0.299) and % brix content (-0.069 and -0.104) at genotypic and phenotypic level. Days to maturity, plant height, number of cluster per plant and number of fruit per cluster had negative direct effect (-1.107, -0.284. -0.412 and -0.348 respectively) with fruit yield per plant. Number of fruit per cluster had a high negative correlation to fruit yield per plant as (4299) where days to maturity had negatively non-significant correlation effect. Fruits per plant had positive direct effect on yield (0.472) and it had a positive correlation to fruit yield per plant as (0.206).Lycopcne content of samples from eighteen genotype. BAR! tomato-S showed very high lycopene content at 502 rim as compared to those of the other genotypes. SD- 7762 (11.25 mg/bOg) genotype having very high Vitamin C content. Considering the magnitude of cluster mean and agronomic performance the genotype BARI Tomato-2, BD-7760, BD-7762 and SARI Tomato-8 might be suggested for future hybridization program. 0 en_US
