Abstract:
An experiment was conducted at the Horticulture Farm of Sher-e-Bangla
Agricultural University, Dhaka during the period from May 2007 to April
2008, to study the effect of different sizes of bulb and potassium on the
growth flower and bulb yield of tuberose. The experiment consisted with
two factors, Factor A: three sizes of bulb viz, B1 : Small bulb (1.0 - 1.5
cm); B2: Medium bulb (1.6-2.0 cm) and B3
: Large bulb (2.1 -2.6 cm) in
diameter respectively and Factor B: four levels of potassium viz., KO: 0
kg (control); K1 : 120 kg; K2: 140 kg and K3: 160 kgK2O/harespectively.
The experiment was conducted in a Randomized Complcte Block Design
with three replications. Bulb size and potassium fertilizer significantly
influenced the growth and yield of tuberose. In case of bulb size, 13
3 gave
the highest (8.8 tlha) yield and B1
gave the lowest (7.04 tlha). In case of
potassium, K2
gave the highest yield (8.63 i/ha) and K
0
gave the lowest
(7.30
t/ha). For combined effect 33K3
gave the highest (8.7101a) yield
and B1 K0
gave the lowest (7.17 i/ha). So, large bulb
size with 160 kg
K20/11a
was
best for growth, tlower and bulb yield of tuberose.
