dc.description A Thesis Submitted to the Department of Horticulture Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF SCIENCE (MS) IN HORTICULTURE en_US
dc.description.abstract The experiment was conducted at the central Farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agriculutral University, Dhaka during the period from February to July 2007 to find out the effect of spacing and potassium on the growth and yield of summer onion. The experiment consisted with two factors. Factor A: Three types of plant spacing; S:15cm 15cm; Factor B: Four levels of potassium; }Cg:Okg IC x 5cm, S2:15cm x 10cm, S3:I5cm 2 0Iha, K,:40kg K 20/ha, 1C2:80kg K 20/ha, K 3:120kg K 2 0fha. The experiment was laied out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). In case of spacing highest plant height (30.13cm), fresh weight of bulb (35.75gm), yield (11.64 tfha) was obtained from S 2 . In case of potassium highest plant height (32.31cm), fresh weight of bulb (39.48gm),yield (11.78 t/ha) was obtained from K 3 . In case of combined effect highest yield (13.13 tlha) was obtained from the treatment combination of S 2K3 . The highest net return (Tk 149,296) was recorded from treatment combhiatio:i of S x 2K3 and the highest benefit cost 10cm spacing with application of 120kg K ratio (2.33) was recorded in S 2 K;!. It may be concluded that 15cm summer onion. x 2 0/ha is best for growth & yield of en_US
