<title>INFLUENCE OF SEA WEED EXTRACT WITH REDUCED RATES OF CHEMICAL FERTILIZER ON GROWTH, YIELD AND QUALITY OF ONION</title>
<link>http://localhost:8080/handle/123456789/5399</link>
<description>INFLUENCE OF SEA WEED EXTRACT WITH REDUCED RATES OF CHEMICAL FERTILIZER ON GROWTH, YIELD AND QUALITY OF ONION
AFRIN, CHOWDHURY SANJIDA
The experiment was conducted in the month duration of March, 2021 to June, 2021 at&#13;
Horticulture Farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka 1207. This experiment&#13;
mainly focuses on the growth and yield of BARI onion 3 by using organic fertilizer based on&#13;
reducing of chemical fertilizer. The experiment consisted of six treatments: NPK (control),&#13;
Vermicompost (8t/ha), 90% recommended dose of NPK with 400 ml/ha Sea Weed, 80%&#13;
recommended dose of NPK with 600 ml/ha Sea Weed, 70% recommended dose of NPK with&#13;
400 ml/ha Sea Weed and 50% recommended dose of NPK with 1000 ml/ha Sea Weed and was&#13;
laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with five replications. For this study, data were&#13;
calculated on plant height(cm), number of leaves, leaf diameter(cm),leaf length(cm), leaf&#13;
length(cm) and also after harvesting data were collected on bulb length(cm), bulb diameter(cm),&#13;
fresh weight of bulb per plant(g), dry weight of bulb per plant(g), yield per plot(g) and yield per&#13;
ha (t/ha). This study showed the best results for the following parameters were produced by 1000&#13;
ml sea weed extract with 50% NPK treatment, the maximum plant height (50.60 cm), maximum&#13;
number of leaf 9 per plant, maximum leaf diameter of plant (0.78 cm) and yield (16.64 t/ha). On&#13;
the other hand, in treatment 1 the following parameters were very poor compare to others. It is&#13;
clearly showed that the better result in various parameters in this experiment was produced by&#13;
sea weed extract (1000 ml/ha +50%NPK). So, the study showed that the application of biostimulant,&#13;
sea&#13;
weed&#13;
enhances&#13;
the growth&#13;
and&#13;
yield&#13;
of onion&#13;
.

= Top&#13;
spawning, M&#13;
2&#13;
 = Thorough spawning and M&#13;
3&#13;
 = Layer spawning. The experiment was laid&#13;
out in completely randomized design with four replications. Data on different growth and&#13;
yield parameters were recorded and significant variation was found in different studied&#13;
parameters. In case of different substrate amount B&#13;
5&#13;
 treatment gave the maximum number&#13;
of fruiting body per packet (24.02), weight of individual fruiting body (3.22 g), length of&#13;
pileus (9.15 cm), thickness of pileus (2.75 mm), diameter of pileus (6.92 cm), biological&#13;
yield (275.40 g), economic yield (259.47 g), dry yield (61.89 g), biological efficiency&#13;
(64.13%) and benefit cost ratio (3.37). In case of spawning method, the highest mycelium&#13;
running rate (0.66 cm), number of fruiting body per packet (24.88), weight of individual&#13;
fruiting body (3.02 g), length of pileus (9.68 cm), thickness of pileus (2.63 mm), diameter&#13;
of pileus (5.56 cm), biological yield (262.99 g), economic yield (237.46 g), dry yield (56.71&#13;
g), biological efficiency (67.76%) and benefit cost ratio (3.62) was recorded from M&#13;
3&#13;
&#13;
treatment. In case of combined effects, highest number of fruiting body per packet (24.83), &#13;
length of pileus (9.74 cm), thickness of pileus (2.87 mm), diameter of pileus (7.22 cm),&#13;
weight of individual fruiting body (3.39 g), biological yield (277.81 g), economic yield&#13;
(263.70 g), dry yield (61.98 g), biological efficiency (78.36%) and benefit cost ratio (4.12) &#13;
was recorded from B&#13;
5&#13;
M&#13;
3&#13;
 treatment combination. In this experiment, due to the interaction&#13;
between B&#13;
5&#13;
 substrate amount with M&#13;
3&#13;
 spawning method showed better performance in&#13;
growth and yield of ear mushroom.
