<description>EFFECT OF FOLIAR APPLICATION OF IAA AND GA 3 ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF MUNGBEAN PLANT
NOURIN, YEASHINA
A field experiment was conducted at the research field of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural&#13;
University, Dhaka, during March to June, 2020 to study the Effect of Foliar Application&#13;
of IAA and GA&#13;
3&#13;
 on Growth and Yield of Mungbean Plant (BARI Mung-6). The&#13;
experiment was consisted of two types of plant growth regulators, viz. i) Auxin (IAA-&#13;
Indole acidic acid) and ii) Gibberellic acid (GA&#13;
3&#13;
). Nine levels of foliar spray with IAA&#13;
and GA&#13;
3&#13;
 application viz. i) Control (T&#13;
0&#13;
), ii) Spraying IAA @ 25 mg/L at 30 DAS (T&#13;
1&#13;
),&#13;
iii) Spraying IAA @ 50 mg/L at 30 DAS (T&#13;
2&#13;
ii &#13;
), iv) Spraying GA&#13;
3 &#13;
@ 25 mg/L at 30 DAS&#13;
(T&#13;
3&#13;
), v) Spraying GA&#13;
3&#13;
 @ 50 mg/L at 30 DAS (T&#13;
4&#13;
), vi) Spraying IAA @ 25 mg/L + GA&#13;
3&#13;
&#13;
@ 25 mg/L at 30 DAS (T&#13;
5&#13;
), vii) Spraying IAA @ 25 mg/L + GA&#13;
3&#13;
 @ 50 mg/L at 30&#13;
DAS (T&#13;
6&#13;
), viii) Spraying IAA @ 50 mg/L + GA&#13;
3 &#13;
@ 25 mg/L at 30 DAS (T&#13;
7&#13;
) and ix)&#13;
Spraying IAA @ 50 mg/L + GA&#13;
3&#13;
 @ 50 mg/L at 30 DAS (T&#13;
8&#13;
). The experiment was laid&#13;
out in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The data&#13;
regarding on plant height, number of leaves, number of branches were recorded both&#13;
30 days after sowing (DAS) and at harvest. The other parameters were recorded&#13;
meanwhile cultivation and at the time of harvest. Results revealed that in case of&#13;
morphological parameters, plant height (57.50 cm), number of leaves (17.33) plant&#13;
&#13;
and number of brunch (7.67)  plant&#13;
-1&#13;
 were significantly higher in T&#13;
8&#13;
 (IAA @ 50 mg/L&#13;
+ GA&#13;
3&#13;
 @ 50 mg/L) treatment. In terms of growth characters; SPAD value (55%), days&#13;
to flowering (27.33) and days to maturity (55.33) were also significantly higher in T&#13;
8&#13;
&#13;
(IAA @ 50 mg/L + GA&#13;
3&#13;
 @ 50 mg/L) treatment. The data regarding yield and yield&#13;
attributes, number of pods plant&#13;
-1&#13;
 (37.66), pod length (14.99), number of seeds pod&#13;
(13.78), weight of 1000- seeds (54.95g), seed yield (1.62 t ha&#13;
-1&#13;
), stover yield (1.78 t/ha),&#13;
biological yield (3.74t/ha), and harvest index (37.75 %) were higher in T&#13;
8&#13;
 (IAA @ 50&#13;
mg/L + GA&#13;
3&#13;
 @ 50 mg/L) treatment. However, (T&#13;
0&#13;
) untreated control (IAA 0.0 mg/L,&#13;
GA&#13;
3 &#13;
0.0 mg/L) showed the lowest performance in every stages. The result indicated&#13;
that the plants treated with T&#13;
8&#13;
 (IAA @ 50 mg/L + GA&#13;
3&#13;
 @ 50 mg/L), performed better&#13;
in respect of growth, yield and others yield contributing characters.

<title>EFFECT OF DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SULPHUR ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF THREE RICE VARIETIES IN BORO SEASON</title>
<link>http://localhost:8080/handle/123456789/4921</link>
<description>EFFECT OF DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SULPHUR ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF THREE RICE VARIETIES IN BORO SEASON
TAHSIN, SABA
The experiment was carried out at the research field of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural&#13;
University, Dhaka during November 2019 to May 2020 to study the effect of sulphur on&#13;
popular three BRRI released rice varieties. The experiment consisted of three rice&#13;
varieties viz., V&#13;
1&#13;
 (BRRI dhan88), V&#13;
2&#13;
 (BRRI dhan89) and V&#13;
 (BRRI dhan100) in&#13;
combination with four sulphur treatments viz., S&#13;
0&#13;
 (control; 0 kg S ha&#13;
3&#13;
-1&#13;
), S&#13;
),&#13;
S&#13;
2&#13;
 (40 kg S ha&#13;
-1&#13;
) and S&#13;
3&#13;
 (50 kg S ha&#13;
-1&#13;
). The experiment was laid out in Randomized&#13;
complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Among different rice varieties,&#13;
V&#13;
 (BRRI dhan100) showed better performance on different growth parameters, but&#13;
considering yield and yield contributing characters V&#13;
3&#13;
 (BRRI dhan89) exhibited better&#13;
performance,whereas V&#13;
1&#13;
2&#13;
 (BRRI dhan88) gave the least performance. Among sulphur&#13;
treatments, S&#13;
2&#13;
 (40 kg S ha&#13;
-1&#13;
) gave the best results considering other treatments followed&#13;
by S&#13;
3&#13;
 (50 kg S ha&#13;
-1&#13;
) whereas control treatment S&#13;
0&#13;
 (0 kg S ha&#13;
-1&#13;
) showed the lowest&#13;
performance. In terms of combined effect of variety and sulphur treatment, V&#13;
showed&#13;
better results regarding yield contributing and yield characters and gave the highest&#13;
number of effective tillers hill&#13;
-1&#13;
 (21.67), panicle length (29.87 cm), number of filled&#13;
grains panicle&#13;
-1&#13;
 (114.80), 1000 grain weight (24.30 g), grain yield (8.57 t ha&#13;
), straw&#13;
yield (9.59 t ha&#13;
-1&#13;
) and harvest index (47.16%), whereas the lowest results were recorded&#13;
from V&#13;
1&#13;
S&#13;
0&#13;
. Therefore, among the treatment combinations, V&#13;
2&#13;
S&#13;
(BRRI dhan89 with 40 kg&#13;
S ha&#13;
-1&#13;
2 &#13;
) can be considered as the best treatment combinations followed by V&#13;
(BRRI&#13;
dhan89 with 50 kg S ha&#13;
-1&#13;
) compared to other treatment combinations.

<title>EFFECT OF SOWING DATE ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF MUNG BEAN (Vigna radiata L.)</title>
<link>http://localhost:8080/handle/123456789/4920</link>
<description>EFFECT OF SOWING DATE ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF MUNG BEAN (Vigna radiata L.)
KHATUN, RESHMA
Sowing time is an important agronomic factors that significantly affects plant growth&#13;
development and final production. Similarly, suitable cultivar also plays an&#13;
appreciable rate in final productivity. Therefore, the experiment was conducted in the&#13;
research field of the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka from March 2020&#13;
to June 2020 to study the effect of sowing date on growth and yield of Mung bean&#13;
(Vigna radiata L). This experiment consisted of three Mung bean varieties viz. V&#13;
1&#13;
 =&#13;
BARI Mung-5, V&#13;
2 &#13;
= BARI Mung-6, V&#13;
3&#13;
 = BARI Mung-7 sown on three different dates&#13;
termed as treatments i. e. T&#13;
1&#13;
= 15 March 2020, T&#13;
2&#13;
= 30 March 2020, and T&#13;
3&#13;
= 15 April&#13;
2020 and different parameters were recorded. The experiment was laid out in&#13;
Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The&#13;
experimental plot was fertilized at the rate of 40 kg/ha (Urea), 80 kg/ha (TSP), 30&#13;
kg/ha (MoP) and necessary intercultural operations were done. The data regarding&#13;
plant height, number of leaves and number of branches were recorded at both 30 Days&#13;
after sowing (DAS) and harvest, and the other parameters were recorded at the time of&#13;
harvest only. At 30 DAS, the highest plant height (22.67 cm) was observed in V&#13;
2&#13;
&#13;
when sown on T&#13;
1 &#13;
and during harvest plant height was found highest (55.17 cm) in the&#13;
same variety with the same treatment. At 30 DAS and harvest, the highest number of&#13;
leaves (average 4.33 and 15 respectively) were obtained in V&#13;
2 &#13;
when sown on T&#13;
1&#13;
. In&#13;
case of number of branches, at 30 DAS and harvest, the highest number (average 2.67&#13;
and 7.67) were observed in V&#13;
2 &#13;
when sown on T&#13;
1 &#13;
and T&#13;
3 &#13;
respectively. The variety V&#13;
3&#13;
&#13;
takes longer time for maturity (66 days) and V&#13;
1 &#13;
variety takes less time for maturity&#13;
(55.67 days). In terms of yield and yield attributes, the highest number of pods per&#13;
plant (39) were recorded in V&#13;
2 &#13;
when sown onT&#13;
1&#13;
 and the number of fertile seeds per&#13;
pod were recorded highest (14) in V&#13;
2&#13;
 when sown onT&#13;
1&#13;
. The maximum pod length&#13;
(14.67 cm) was recorded in V&#13;
2&#13;
 when sown on T&#13;
1&#13;
. In case of 1000- seed weight the&#13;
highest value (53.18 g) was recorded in V&#13;
2&#13;
 when sown on T&#13;
1&#13;
. The maximum SPAD&#13;
value (55), the highest yield (1.68 t ha&#13;
-1&#13;
), maximum biological yield (3.5 t ha&#13;
), the&#13;
highest Stover yield (1.88 t ha&#13;
-1&#13;
) was recorded in V&#13;
2 &#13;
when sown on T&#13;
1&#13;
. Finally, the&#13;
maximum Harvest Index (53.33 %) was calculated in V&#13;
2 &#13;
when sown on T&#13;
1&#13;
. The&#13;
results in this study indicated that the variety performed better in respect of growth,&#13;
yield and others yield contributing characters’ is V&#13;
2&#13;
 (BARI Mung -6) on the sowing&#13;
time T&#13;
1 &#13;
(15 March 2020).
