ABSTRACT &#13;
RESPONSE&#13;
OF T.&#13;
AMAN RICE (BRRI dlian 40) TO MANURE AND GREEN MANURE AS A &#13;
COMPONENT&#13;
OF&#13;
INTEGRATED NUTRIENT MANAGEMENT (INM) &#13;
A (kId experiment was earned out at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAt)) Farm during the&#13;
kharif period from July. 2011 to November 2011 to evaluate the response of BRRI dhan 40 to green&#13;
manure &amp; cowdung as a component of Integrated Nutrient Management The (kId experiment was&#13;
conducted in combination with inorganic fertilizer and organic manure, The Red Brown Terrace Soil&#13;
of Teigoan series was silty loam in texture having pH 5.6 The experiment was conducted in a&#13;
Randonli7ed Complete Block Design (RCBD) with II treatments and 3 replications. The treatments &#13;

higher nutrient use efficiency along with higher N. P. K and S uptake by the T. Aman rice. The &#13;
application of inorganic lbrtilizer with manure inlluenced the nutrient concentration in rice grain and&#13;
straw. The higher grain N, P. K and S concentrations were observed in the treatments where dhaincha&#13;
and cowdung were applied in combination with NPKS fertilizers. Grain yield of 'I'. Aman rice was&#13;
positively correlated with number of effective tiller, plant height, panicle length. filled grain per &#13;
panicle and straw yield. The combined application of fertilizer and organic manure increased the %&#13;
organic carbon (OC). organic matter (OM)&#13;
%.&#13;
total N, available P and available S in post harvest soils.&#13;
The overall findings of the study indicate that the integrated use of inorganic fertilizer and organic &#13;
manure should be encouraged to address the deteriorating soil fertility and increased crop yield ofT.&#13;
Aman rice.

ISLAM, SYED JAHIRUL
A field experiment was conducted at the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Farm, Dhaka&#13;
during the period from November 2010 to March 2011 to study the role of magnesium and&#13;
zinc alone and combined on the growth, yield contributing characters and yield of BARI&#13;
Gom 21 (Satabdi), (Triticum aestivum). There were three levels of Magnesium viz., 0, 6, &#13;
12 kg ha' and three levels of Zinc viz.,0.3,6kgha"in the experiment. The experiment&#13;
was laid out in a Factorial Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. &#13;
Magnesium showed significant effect on yield and yield attributes of wheat. Application&#13;
of magnesium @ 12 kg ha" produced the highest seed yield, plant height, number of tillers&#13;
plant", 1000-seed weight and straw yield. In all the cases lower response was found from the&#13;
control treatment. Zinc fertilizer also had significant effect on yield and yield attributes of&#13;
wheat. Application of Zinc @ 6 kg ha' gave the highest seed yield, plant height, number&#13;
of tillers plant", spike length, number of effective spikelets spike",l000-seed weight, &#13;
straw yield but the lower response was found in all cases from the control treatment.&#13;
Magnesium in combination with zinc showed significant effect on yield and yield attributes &#13;
of wheat. Magnesium @ 12 kg ha" and zinc&#13;
@6&#13;

<title>EFFECT OF VARIOUS ORGANIC MANURE AND INORGANIC FERTILIZER WITH DIFFERENT WATER MANAGEMENT ON THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF BORO RICE</title>
<link>http://localhost:8080/handle/123456789/711</link>
<description>EFFECT OF VARIOUS ORGANIC MANURE AND INORGANIC FERTILIZER WITH DIFFERENT WATER MANAGEMENT ON THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF BORO RICE
BARI, A. S. M. FAZLE
The experiment was conducted in the farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University,&#13;
Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period from December 2010 to April 2011 to study the &#13;
effect of various organic manure and inorganic fertilizer with different water management&#13;
on the growth and yield of boro rice (BRRI dhan29). The experiment consists of 2 factors&#13;
i. e. irrigation and fertilizer plus manure. Two levels of irrigations (i= Alternate wetting&#13;
and drying and 11= Continuous flooding) with 8 levels of fertilizer plus manure, as TO: &#13;
Control, T1&#13;
: 100% N&#13;

 (Recommended dose), T&#13;
2: 50% NPKSZn + 5 ton&#13;
cowdung/ha, 13&#13;
: 70% NPKSZn + 3 ton cowdung/ha, T&#13;
4: 50% NPKSZn ± 4 ton poultry&#13;
manure/ha. T&#13;
5: 70% NPKSZn + 2.4&#13;
ton&#13;
poultry manure/ha,&#13;
1'6:&#13;
50%&#13;
NPKSZn 1-&#13;
5 ton &#13;
composllha and T&#13;
7&#13;
: 70% NPKSZn + 3 ton compostihs were used in the experiment. There&#13;
were 16 treatment combinations and 3 replications. Results revealed that irrigation had no&#13;
significant effect on the yield and yield parameters but a little bit higher yields were&#13;
obtained from continuous flooding (J). The Yield contributing characters and yields were&#13;
significantly affected by fertilizer and manure application. The highest effective tillers/hill&#13;
(13.3), plant height (88.56 cm), panicle length (21.07 cm), 1000 grain wt. (23 g), grain&#13;
yield (6.96 tiha) and straw yield (6.03 Uha) were found from T&#13;
4&#13;
 (50% NPKSZn + 4 ton&#13;
poultry manurc/ha) treatment and the lowest in To treatment. The highest grain and straw&#13;
yields were found by the application of organic manure plus inorganic fertilizers compared &#13;
to the use of chemical fertilizer alone. Significantly the highest grain (7.13 tlha) and straw&#13;
yields (6.27 tlha) were recorded from 1&#13;
1T4&#13;
 (Continuous flooding + 50% NPKSZn +&#13;
4&#13;
ton&#13;
poultry manurelha) and the lowest (3.84 t/ha) from loTo (Alternate wetting and drying + &#13;
control) treatment combination and 85% grain yield increased over control. Irrigation did&#13;
not significantly influence the grain and straw nutrient concentration and uptake while the &#13;
higher NPKS uptake was recorded in continuous flooding. The boro rice grain and straw&#13;
nutrient concentrations in grain and straw of boro rice were significantly affected by the&#13;
application of fertilizer and manure and application of fertilizer plus manure resulted in &#13;
higher nutrient use efficiency along with higher N, P. K and S uptake by boro rice. The&#13;
highest concentrations of grain N (0.997%). p (0.292%), K (0.361%), S (0.130%) and&#13;
straw NPKS were recorded from T treatment and lowest from&#13;
To &#13;
 treatment. Similarly,&#13;
nutrient uptake by rice grain and straw was also higher in T&#13;
4&#13;
 treatment compared to other &#13;
fertilizer treatment. The highest nutrient concentrations and uptake were recorded in 1&#13;
1T4 &#13;
treatment combination. The levels of organic matter and nutrient concentration were &#13;
increased in the post harvest soils where manure plus inorganic fertilizer were used.
