<title>EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT MANURE AND-FERTILIZERS ON GROWTH- AND YIELD CONTRIBUTING CHARACTERS OF RICE</title>
<link>http://localhost:8080/handle/123456789/4650</link>
<description>EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT MANURE AND-FERTILIZERS ON GROWTH- AND YIELD CONTRIBUTING CHARACTERS OF RICE
YEASMIN, ROMANA
A field ~-periment was conducted to evaluate the response of green manure and&#13;
chemica) fertilizer on growth and yield of rice varieties in aman season at the research&#13;
farm of Sber-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh during. the period&#13;
from July to December, 2019. The experiment consisted of two factors; viz. factor A:&#13;
Three rice varieties namely V]= Kataribhog, V2 = BRRI dhan41 and V3 = BRRI&#13;
dhan34 and factor B: fertilizer doses viz., Tl: Recommended doses ofNPKSZn, T2 =&#13;
800' recommended doses of NPKSZn + green manure 3.5 t ha", T3 = 60%&#13;
recommended doses ofNPKSZn + green manure 7 t ha", T4' = 40% recommended&#13;
doses of NPKSZn, Green Manure 10.5 t ha", T5 = 20% recommended doses of&#13;
NPKSZn +Green Manure 14 t ha" and T6 = Green Manure 17.5 t ha-I were used for&#13;
the present study. The experiment was laid out in a split-plot design with three&#13;
replicanons, 1n case of variety green manure and chemical fertilizer significantly&#13;
affected all characters except dry matter content hiIJ-t at 15 DAT. Similarly, all traits&#13;
were also affected significantly due to the effect of fertilizer management, the&#13;
treatment 1'2 (80% recommended doses of NPKSZn + green manure 3.5 t ha")&#13;
showed outstanding performance for getting the better growth and higher yield&#13;
compared fo those of other treatments. Most of the studied traits were also influenced&#13;
significantly due to the effect of interaction of variety and fertilizer management&#13;
wbere the growth and yield showed significant variation. The variety BRR! dhan34&#13;
treated with SOOIo recommended doses ofNPKSZn + green manure 3.5 t ha-l (V3T2)&#13;
as well as the highest number of tillers 'hill·l (13.93, 19.78, 21.33, 21.00, 20.44 and&#13;
19.44 at 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 DAT and at harvest, respectively), maximum effective&#13;
tillers hiU-1 (15.50), the highest number of grains panicle" (252.10), maximum filled&#13;
grains panicle" (212.8) and highest yield of grain (2.67 t ha") were recorded. The&#13;
highest (8.85%) and lowest (8.52%) protein content in rice grain was observed in&#13;
Kataribhog (VI) and BRRI dhan34 (V3), respectively. The highest protein content in&#13;
rice grain (9.42%) was observed in V3T6 and the lowest protein content in rice grain&#13;
(7.76%) 'was found in V3T4. The highest (77.63%) and lowest (77.12%) carbohydrate&#13;
content in rice grain was observed in BRRI dhan34 (V3) and BRRI dhan52 (V2),&#13;
respectively. The highest carbohydrate content in rice grain (79.24%) was observed in&#13;
VITt and the lowest (75.00%) was found in VIT4. Considering the above fact, 80% '&#13;
recommended dose of NPKSZn + green manure 3.5 t ha'icould be considered the best&#13;
fertilizer management practice for optimizing the production of aromatic rice during&#13;
aman season.

The experiment was carried out at the Soil Science Farm at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural&#13;
University, Dhaka during the period of November, 2018 to May 2019 to study the effect of&#13;
different rates and dates 'of mustard oil cake application on growth and yield of rice (BRRJ&#13;
dhan67). The experiment was laid out on Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) ,&#13;
with three replications, There were four mustard oil cake (MOC) fertilizer levels, viz"&#13;
Mr=no mustard oil cake, M2=25 kg ha", M3=50 kg ha-l, M4=75 kg ha" and three time of&#13;
application viz., Tj=Basal dose, T2=20 DAT, and T3=35 DAT, Mustard oil cake was top&#13;
dressed in three equal splits at 10, 35 and 55 DAT, Results indicated that the effect of&#13;
mustard oil cake showed significant variation in respect of all growth, yield contributing&#13;
characters and yield, At harvest, highest plant height (81.66cm), tillers hill-] (21.55),&#13;
effective tillers hill-] (14.22), panicle Jength (21,:87cm), filled grains panicle" (132.1),&#13;
1000 grain Weight (29.35 g), grain yield ( 8.2 t ha-\ straw yield (5.16 tha") was obtained&#13;
from the application of MOC, Onthe other hand, highest plant height (81.67cm), tillers&#13;
hill-] (21.42), effective tillers hill-l (14,58), panicle length (22.84cm), filled grains panicle"&#13;
(132,24), 1000 grain weight (29.35 g), grain yield ( 7.6 t ha"), straw yield ( 5.'] 5t ha")&#13;
was obtained from the time of application .. Mustard 011 cake @ 75 kg gave the highest&#13;
grain yield (7.6 t ha"). Interaction effect showed that application of MOC @75 kg&#13;
application in 75 days after application gave the highest (9.9 t ha") grain yield. Therefore,&#13;
application of MOC .® 75 kg ha-1 at 35 DAT appears to be the best package for BRRl&#13;
dhan67 produced higher yield,

<description>EFFECT OF PHOSPHORUS AND SULPHUR ON THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF MUSTARD
MD. MONIRUZZAMAN
A field experiment was conducted at the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University&#13;
Farm, Dhaka 1207 during November 2018 to February 2019 to study the effect&#13;
of phosphorus and sulphur on the growth and yield of mustard (Bari sarisa-14).&#13;
The experimental soil was clay loam in texture having pH of 5.7. The&#13;
experiment included three levels of phosphorus viz. 0, 28, and 36 kg P ha&#13;
and&#13;
three levels of sulphur viz., 0, 16, and 20 kg S ha&#13;
-1&#13;
. The experiment was laid&#13;
out in a Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications.&#13;
Phosphorus showed significant effect on yield and yield attributes of mustard.&#13;
Application of phosphorus (P&#13;
3&#13;
 @36 kg ha&#13;
-1&#13;
) produced the highest seed yield,&#13;
plant height, number of primary branches plant&#13;
-1&#13;
,&#13;
 &#13;
number of siliqua plant&#13;
and&#13;
1000-seed weight. Sulphur fertilizer also had significant effect on yield and&#13;
yield attributes of mustard. Application of sulphur @ 20 kg ha&#13;
 produced the&#13;
highest number of primary branches plant&#13;
-1&#13;
, number of siliqua plant&#13;
but in all&#13;
the cases relatively, the lower response was found from the control treatment.&#13;
Phosphorus in combination with sulphur showed significant effect on yield and&#13;
yield attributes of mustard. Plant height, no. of siliqua plant&#13;
-1&#13;
, siliqua length,&#13;
no. of seed siliqua&#13;
-1&#13;
, weight of 1000 seed (g), seed yield was found the highest&#13;
in the treatment combination P&#13;
3&#13;
S&#13;
3&#13;
. The addition of P and S not only increased&#13;
the yield but also protect the soil from total exhaustion of nutrients.
