KAMAL, A.H.M. MOSTAFA
[lie main focus of (lie present study was to determine the extent of adoption at tflushrOOni
cultivation by the trained thrmers and to explore the relationships between the adoption of
mushroom cultivation of the trained lanners and their selected characteristics. The stitdv
was conducted at live villages of Sadar Upazila under Faridpur district which were

study revealed that the highest proportion (60.87 percent) of the respondents had low
adoption of mushroom cultivation. while 27.84 percent had medium adoption and the rest
11.34 percent had high adoption of mushroom cultivation. Pearson's Product Moment
Correlation co-cflieient (i) was computed to explore the relationships between adoption at
mushroom cultivation of the trained farmers and their selected characteristics. The
correlation analysis indicated that education, mushroom cultivation knowledge. belief
about mushroom, neighborhood influence. length of training and extension contact of the
truined farmers had significant positive relationships with their adoption of mushroom
cultivation. Age. fhtiiilv size. cosmopoliteness and organizational participation had no

PARTICIPATION OF COMMON INTEREST GROUP (CIG) MEMBERS IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
ALl, MD. ZULFIKER
The main objectives of this study were to determine and describe the extent of
participation of Common Interest group (CIG) members in community development
and explore the relationships between the participation of CIG members in community
development with their selected characteristics. Eleven villages of Monohardi
tJpazilla under Narsingdi district was selected as the study area. Data were collected
from 110 CIG members by using a pre-tested interview schedule during the period
from 30 July to 02 September, 2012. Appropriate scales were developed in order to
measure the concerned variables. A statistical software package named SPSS 11.5 was
used to analyze the data and Karl Pearson's Correlation Co-efficient was computed in
order to explore the relationship of participation of the CIG members in community
development with their selected characteristics. Findings revealed that highest
proportion (78.1 percent) of the CIG members had medium participation in
community development compared to 16.4 and
5.5
percent having high participation
and low participation respectively. Correlation analysis indicated that nine, out of
twelve characteristics of the CIG members namely, level of education, effective farm
size, annual family income, Training exposure, communication exposure,
cosmopoliteness, involvement in CIG, Knowledge on CIG related community
development activities, attitude towards community development had significant
positive relationships with their participation in community development. Two
characteristics namely, age and family size had no significant relationship with their
participation in community development. Other one characteristics had significant
negative relationship with their participation in community development. Based on
descending order of Problem Faced Index (PFI), indicates 'no proper guideline from
Union and upazila producer's organization' ranked first followed by 'lack of
interaction among the Cbs'. 'Inadequate help from SAAOs ranked last

collected by using a pretested personal interview schedule during March to May,
2014. Pearson's Product moment Correlation "r" was used to determine the
relationship between the selected characteristics of the respondents with their
extent of problems in roof top gardening. The findings revealed that the majority
(45%) of the respondent faced medium problem whilc 40% percent of the
respondent faced low problem. Comparatively few respondents
(15%) faced high
problem in roof top gardening. Among nine selected characteristics of the
respondents, S namely. Level of education, Knowledge on roof top gardening, Use of
information sources, Attitude towards roof top gardening, and Training had
significant negative relationship with their problems faced in roof top gardening and

FACTORS AFFECTING ADOPTION OF BRRI LilIAN 44 BY THE FARMERS OF BARISAL DISTRICT
NIPA, SHAYLA KHAN
The main purpose of the study was to determine the extent of adoption of BRRI dhan
44 by the farmers of Barisal district and to explore the relationship between the
selected factors of the farmers and their adoption of BRRI dhan 44. The study was
conducted in six villages of Kashipur union under Sadar Upazila of Barisal District.
A list of 322 BRRI dhan 44 growers was prepared with the help of respective SAAO
and Agricultural Extension Officer of the Upazila and 110 farmers were selected at
random. Pearson's correlation co-efficient was used to explore the relationship
between the selected factors of the farmers and their adoption of BRRI dhan 44. In
the study area BRRI dhan 44 introduced just two years ago. Findings showed that
highest proportion
(45.45
percent) of the farmers categorized into medium adoption
category while almost same proportion (41.82 percent) into low adoption category in
case of adoption of BRRI dhan 44. Only a small portion of the farmers were
categorized into high adoption (12.73 percent) category. Among the seven selected
factors only three factors namely family influence, attitude towards BRRI dhan 44
