<description>ADOPTION OF VIETNAMESE KOI (Anabas testudineus) FISH BY THE FARMERS OF MURADNAGAR UPAZILLA UNDER CUMILLA DISTRICT
UDDIN, MD. KAMAL
The main objective of the study was to determine the adoption of Vietnamese Koi by the fish &#13;
farmers in Cumilla district. The study area comprised three villages namely Jahapur, Dhamghar&#13;
and Paschim nabipur under of Muradnagar upazila. The selected characteristics of the farmers&#13;
were age, education, family size, pond size, annual family income, Fish farming experience,&#13;
knowledge on Vietnamese koi culture, extension media contact, cosmopolitness, training exposer&#13;
on fish farming, attitude towards Vietnamese koi culture and problems faced by the farmers in&#13;
Vietnamese Koi culture. Data were collected from randomly selected 105 Vietnamese Koi farmers&#13;
during December, 2022 by using structured interview schedule. Correlation was used to measure&#13;
the relationship between each of the selected characteristics of the farmers and their adoption of&#13;
Vietnamese Koi. The findings indicate that 52.38 percent of the Vietnamese Koi farmers had&#13;
medium adoption, 28.56 percent had low rate of adoption and 19.04 percent had higher adoption.&#13;
Correlation analysis indicate that farm size, annual family income, fish farming experience,&#13;
knowledge on Vietnamese koi culture and attitude towards Vietnamese Koi culture of the farmers&#13;
had positive significant relationships with their adoption of Vietnamese Koi. On the other hand,&#13;
age, education, family size, extension media contact, cosmopolitness and training exposer of the&#13;
fish farmers had no significant relationships with their adoption of Vietnamese Koi.  The Problem&#13;
Faced Index indicated that high price of feed ranked 1&#13;
st&#13;
 followed by “lack of capital”, “high labor&#13;
cost”, “high price of medicine”, “high production cost”, “high sensitivity to disease”, “lack of&#13;
knowledge”, “natural disaster”, “lack of water exchange facilities”, “less security of fish food”,&#13;
“poor transportation facilities”, Unavailability of Vietnamese koi seeds” and “Algal blooms on the&#13;
pond”.

<title>SUSTAINABILITY OF AGRICULTURAL MECHANIZATION IN RANGPUR DISTRICT</title>
<link>http://localhost:8080/handle/123456789/5352</link>
<description>SUSTAINABILITY OF AGRICULTURAL MECHANIZATION IN RANGPUR DISTRICT
BANIK, BISHAL
This study aims to assess the sustainability of agricultural mechanization in Rangpur district.&#13;
Agricultural Mechanization covers all levels of farming and processing technologies, from simple&#13;
and basic hand tools to more sophisticated and motorized equipment. Sustainable agricultural&#13;
mechanization considers economic, social, and environmental dimensions that contribute to the&#13;
sustainable development of the agricultural sector. The objectives of the study were to identify a&#13;
set of indicators that represents social, economic and environmental issues of agricultural&#13;
mechanization, to assess the sustainability of agricultural mechanization, and to determine&#13;
contributory factors of the sustainability of agricultural mechanization. An essential set of&#13;
indicators were developed by reviewing the literature. Data were collected from 120 farmers of&#13;
nine villages of three upazilas namely Rangpur Sadar, Gangachara and Taraganj of Rangpur&#13;
district. The sustainability of agricultural mechanization was assessed by developing a composite&#13;
sustainability index consisting of three dimensions. Normalization, weighting and aggregation&#13;
were used for constructing the sustainability index. The results indicate that: i) on average the&#13;
agricultural mechanization of more than one-third (38.42%) of farmers was sustainable and ii)&#13;
using multiple regression analysis (standardized beta), the major contributing factors were&#13;
adequacy of extension services, access to financial institutions, knowledge on climate change,&#13;
education, the extent of reducing pre-harvest, harvest, post-harvest losses and increasing&#13;
productivity. Research findings indicate that these six factors played a vital role in achieving&#13;
sustainability of agricultural mechanization in the study area. Several policy recommendations&#13;
(e.g., higher adequacy of extension services, full access to financial institutions, higher education,&#13;
increase in agricultural productivity, availability of agricultural machinery, frequent use of&#13;
agricultural machinery etc.) were made based on the findings of the study to achieve sustainability &#13;
of agricultural mechanization in Rangpur district.

<title>FARMERS’ INNOVATIVENESS ON MODERN AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY IN NILPHAMARI SADAR UPAZILA</title>
<link>http://localhost:8080/handle/123456789/5351</link>
<description>FARMERS’ INNOVATIVENESS ON MODERN AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY IN NILPHAMARI SADAR UPAZILA
AKTER, SHARMIN
It is indeed true that agricultural mechanization is changing the face of farming&#13;
across the world. Bangladesh is an agriculture based country. Mechanization is&#13;
also upgrading the agriculture sector. Most of the people of our country is related&#13;
with agriculture. But due to low knowledge on agricultural operation or modern&#13;
agricultural machineries operation the farmer faced huge loss on crop production.&#13;
That’s why the modern agricultural machineries need in agriculture sector to&#13;
increase crop production. The main goal of the study was to evaluate the extent&#13;
of innovativeness of the farmers on modern agricultural machinery. The study&#13;
was conducted in the Nilphamari district’s Tupamari union of the sadar upazilla.&#13;
From a revised list of 1021 farmers, 101 farmers were chosen as the sample.&#13;
Between December 14, 2022 and January 15, 2023, data were gathered using pretested&#13;
&#13;
interview schedule. In order to obtain information simple and direct&#13;
questions with different scales were used. In order to quantify innovativeness, a&#13;
5-point rating scale was constructed. Co-efficient of correlation(r) was computed&#13;
to explore the relationship between the nine characteristics of the farmers and&#13;
their innovativeness on modern agricultural machinery. Among nine&#13;
characteristics Farm size, area under mechanization, annual family income,&#13;
extension media contact had significant positive relationship with innovativeness&#13;
on modern agricultural machinery. Age, education, family size, organizational&#13;
participation however, did not significantly influence one another. About 6.9&#13;
percent and 12.9 percent farmers who had high and low high innovativeness on&#13;
modern machineries, other hand 80.2 percent had medium innovativeness.

<title>USE OF IMPROVED PRACTICES IN MAIZE PRODUCTION</title>
<link>http://localhost:8080/handle/123456789/5350</link>
<description>USE OF IMPROVED PRACTICES IN MAIZE PRODUCTION
RUMI, MD. ABUBAKAR SIDDIK
The objectives of this study were to describe the selected characteristics of the farmers;&#13;
to determine the extent of use of improved practices in maize production and to explore&#13;
the contributions of the selected characteristics of the farmers to their use of improved&#13;
practices by the farmers’ in maize production. The study was conducted with randomly&#13;
selected 106 maize cultivators in Alamdanga upazilla under Chuadanga. A pre-tested&#13;
interview schedule was used to collect data from the respondents during January 20 to&#13;
February 20, 2022. Use of improved practices in maize production was the dependent&#13;
variable and its was measured on the basis of use practices. Ten selected characteristics&#13;
of the respondents considered the independent variables of the study multiple &#13;
regressions was used to examine the contribution of the selected characteristics of the&#13;
respondents. The highest proportion (67.93 percent) of the farmers had medium use of&#13;
improved practices and 14.15 percent and 17.92 percent farmers have high and low use&#13;
of improved practices. Four characteristics of the respondent’s viz. farm size, annual&#13;
family income, experience in maize production and extension media contact of the&#13;
respondents had significant positive contribution to their use of improved practices. &#13;
Therefore, it can be recommended that initiative should be taken by the DAE with the&#13;
help of other relevant organizations to increase these facilities (significant factors) to&#13;
improve the scenario regarding use of improved practices.
