Abstract:
The main purpose of the study was to determine the extent of adoption of BRRI dhan 
44 by the farmers of Barisal district and to explore the relationship between the 
selected factors of the farmers and their adoption of BRRI dhan 44. The study was 
conducted in six villages of Kashipur union under Sadar Upazila of Barisal District. 
A list of 322 BRRI dhan 44 growers was prepared with the help of respective SAAO 
and Agricultural Extension Officer of the Upazila and 110 farmers were selected at 
random. Pearson's correlation co-efficient was used to explore the relationship 
between the selected factors of the farmers and their adoption of BRRI dhan 44. In 
the study area BRRI dhan 44 introduced just two years ago. Findings showed that 
highest proportion
(45.45
percent) of the farmers categorized into medium adoption 
category while almost same proportion (41.82 percent) into low adoption category in 
case of adoption of BRRI dhan 44. Only a small portion of the farmers were 
categorized into high adoption (12.73 percent) category. Among the seven selected 
factors only three factors namely family influence, attitude towards BRRI dhan 44 
and rice cultivation knowled c affected the adoption of URRI dhan 44.
