Abstract:
An Experiment was conducted at Horticulture Centre, Department of Agricultural
Extension (DAE) , Burirhat , Rangpur during the period of February 2020 to May 2020 to
investigate the macro propagation of banana cv.‘Malbhog’ as influenced by different
growing media and Benzyl Amino Purine in different concentrations . The experiment was
laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications.
Treatments were different media viz, Mo: Control (Soil), M
1
: Rice husk, M
2
: Saw dust,
M
3
: Cocodust and four levels of BAP, viz, So: Control (0ml/L), S
1
: 20mg/L, S
2
: 30mg/L,
and S
3
: 40mg/L concentrations. Results indicated that days of first sucker emergence and
highest values of vegetative growth i.e; number of suckers, suckers height, number of
leaves, sucker collar diameter (cm), number of roots and roots length attributed the highest
ramifications for the treatment of M
3
 (Cocodust) and S
3
(40 mg/L) of BAP. Combined
applications M
3
S
3
produced the best result for first time sucker emergence, number of
sucker, sucker height and other vegetative growth and development. So, it can be
concluded that cocodust media with 40 mg/L concentrations of BAP treatment combination
is suitable for better macro propagation of banana cv.‘Malbhog’.
