The experiment was conducted in the Horticultural Farm of Sher-e-Bangla
Agricultural University, Dhaka during the period from October 2015 to March
2016 to find out the productivity and profitability of tomato as influenced by
micronutrients. This is a single factor experiment and consisted of 11
treatments. The treatments are the combination of different doses of
micronutrients according to North Caroline University law, USA. The
treatments are T

GROWTH AND YIELD OF FRENCH BEAN AS INFLUENCED BY NITROGEN AND POTASSIUM

GROWTH AND YIELD OF FRENCH BEAN AS INFLUENCED BY NITROGEN AND POTASSIUM
AKTER, SURAIYA
This field experiment was conducted at the Horticulture farm of Sher-e- Bangla Agricultural
University, Dhaka during the period of november 2015 to February 2016 to investigate the
effect of different levels of nitrogen and potassium on the growth and yield of French bean.
The experiment consisted of four levels of nitrogen viz.N
0
: control N
1
: 50 kg/ha, N
: 90
kg/ha, N
3
:130 Kg/ha and three levels of potassium, viz. K
0
: Control; K
:
90Kg/ha and BARIZhar sheem-1 was used as french bean variety. The experiment was laid
out in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. Nitrogen had significant
effect on the plant height, number of branch, leaf size, number of flower, number of pod per
plant and pod yield per hectare. However, incase of nitrogen the highest yield(13.28 t/ha) was
obtained from N
2
and lowest yield (10.41t/ha) was obtained from N
.For potassium the
highest yield (14.91 t/ha) was obtained from K
2
0
and lowest yield (10.78 t/ha) from K
.Among
all treatment combinations highest yield (18.04 t/ha) was obtained from N
and lowest
yield (9.61 t/ha) was obtained from N
0
K
. So, 90kg N/ha and 90 kg K/ha may be used for
french bean cultivation.

GROWTH, YIELD AND ECONOMIC BENEFITS OF RADISH AS INFLUENCED BY MANURES AND MULCHING
ISLAM, KAZI SHAFIUL
An experiment was carried out at the Horticultural Farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural
University, Dhaka, during the period of November 2015 to February 2016 to study the
growth, yield and economic benefits of radish as influenced by different organic manures
and mulch materials. The experiment consisted of four levels of organic manure viz. T
=
Control (No manure), T
Mustard oil cake (3 t ha
1
= Cowdung (20 t ha
-1
-1
), T
2
= Poultry manure (15 t ha
) and three levels mulch materials viz. M
= Control (No mulch
materials), M
1
= Black polythene and M
2
0
= Ash. The experiment was laid in Randomized
Complete Block Design with three replications. Combined effect of poultry manure @ 15
t ha
-1
with wood ash as mulch materials represented the best performance in terms of root
length (28.1 cm), fresh weight of root plant
-1
(348.9 g) and fresh weight of whole plant
(513.5 g). Gross yield ha
1
-1
(43.62 t ha
-1
) and the highest marketable yield ha
) were also found with wood ash. Highest net return (240645 Tk ha
-1
) with highest BCR
(3.45) were also found by the same treatment combination.
