INFLUENCE OF CORM SIZE AND GA ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF GLADIOLUS IN SUMMER
SARKAR, MD. AKHLAS HOSAIN
An experiment was conducted in the Horticulture Farm, Sher-e-Bangla
Agricultural University, Dhaka during the period from May 2011 to August
2011 to study the influence of corm size and GA
on growth and yield of
gladiolus in summer. The experiment considered of two factors. Factor A: Two
levels of corm size i.e. C
M
= Medium
3
Large
3
: Control

L =

L

while the minimum in C
. On the other hand, the maximum length of rachis

150
M
while the minimum in G
. The highest plant height
L
0
G
. The highest benefit cost ratio

L
G
150
150
. So, it can be concluded that, large size corm
with 150 ppm GA
3
were found suitable for gladiolus production in summer.

The study was conducted at the Horticulture Farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural
University, Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period from October 2010 to May 2011. The
experiment consisted with two factors. Factor A: Three levels of spacing: S

study the effect of organic manures on growth, yield and shelf life of broccoli
cultivars. The experiment consisted of two factors, Factor A: Four levels of

An experiment was conducted at Horticulture Farm, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural
University, Dhaka during the period from June to August 2010 to study the
effect of GA
on growth and flowering of gladiolus. The experiment comprised
with two factors viz. Factor A: two varieties, white gladiolus and yellow
gladiolus and Factor B: five concentration of GA
3
application viz. 0, 50, 100,
150 and 200 ppm respectively. The experiment was laid out in Randomized
Complete Block Design
3
application at
different concentration had significant effect on the parameters. GA
@ 150
ppm treated white gladiolus showed the highest plant height
treated plant
also took the minimum days to spike initiation
application is the most effective for
improving the growth and flowering of gladiolus cultivated in summer .
